BEAUTY TIP - for EYEBROWS
Eyebrows give strength to a woman’s face, framing the eyes, helping them to stand out. Well-groomed brows also give a more polished look. Sometimes a correctly defined brow can make a woman appear more youthful.
In my experience, I’ve seen both extremes - women have either overplucked or they’ve let their brows go “natural”, ignoring them completely. Small, deep-set eyes or eyes with very little eyelid space will benefit the most from well-shaped, well-groomed brows. The eyes, in this case, will appear bigger and more open.
Eyebrow fashions change, but we don’t care about that; the most important thing is to find the most flattering look for your own face. Consider having your brows shaped by a professional at least once. Waxing, tweezing, threading or a combination of all three are the options. I prefer threading and have a great person in Chicago that I use. Call or email me if you’d like her contact information. Once your specialist has given you the perfect brow, you can do at home maintenance pulling out strays with a tweezer. Invest in a good tweezer like Tweezerman or Bobbi Brown’s which never needs to be sharpened and is the one I use.
If your eyebrows are sparse or have “holes” in them, they will need filling in with makeup. Pencils are easy to use. Draw short, individual “hairs” rather than a continuous line, then brush gently to soften the look. Pencils also work well if the brow ends too short and needs extending. Sometimes I prefer to use powder to fill in and define. Eyeshadow with a stiff, angled brush works very well. Picking the right color is important. Let your hair color be your guide. However, blondes can go a bit darker and brunettes should opt for a bit lighter. I often use shades of light to dark gray and find this usually looks the most natural. The main idea here is to define in a subtle way - don’t overdo it.
So ……… start giving those eyebrows a little TLC.
